BRIO

What BRIO does

BRIO delivers the technology to anaerobic digestion of organic waste.

Modular, containerised units that easily retrofit to commercial-scale anaerobic digesters, applying our platform to control the biology and deliver higher energy output.

Each BRIO system stands beside the digester and connects to existing pipework. The plant keeps operating as normal and gains four additional benefits.

  1. Microbial community retained.

Cellular retention is decoupled from hydraulic retention, retaining a larger arsenal of the microbes that convert carbon into methane. This enables greater resilience to feedstock fluctuations and higher loading rates.

  2. Faster and more carbon conversion.

The stimulation accelerates the rate-limiting transfer between acid-forming bacteria and methanogens, so more carbon becomes methane.

  3. Increased CO2 conversion.

Carbon dioxide in the standard biogas is converted into additional methane inside the digester, producing 5 to 10% richer methane content and reducing upgrading costs per MWh delivered.

  4. Healthier digesters.

By utilising the existing microbial consortium, we facilitate a healthier digestion environment without the need for additives.

The energy balance

Coulombic efficiency measures far above 100%. Electrical stimulation pushes the biology to do the carbon conversion work.

Intelligent control

A proprietary real-time AI biological control system directs the stimulation, monitors process health through continuous biological telemetry, and optimises performance across every deployment.

Pilot data

Real customer feedstock on a customer site: agricultural waste and residues.
